Maine and More

We left off Sunday morning right before heading into Acadia National Park in Maine.  First, I drove up Cadillac Mountain to get an amazing view of the park and surrounding area.

After that, we continued on a looping drive through the park, stopping for lunch on the rocks by the ocean.  Thunder Hole is a hole in the rock on the shoreline that can make the sound of thunder if the wind and tide is right.  We visited, but it was too calm.  Next we hiked over to Otter Cliffs and I forgot to take a picture.

For dinner, we went out for lobster since they're known for that in the area.  Maine is also known for blueberries so we finished it off with blueberry pie and ice cream.

After dinner, I got a start on the long drive ahead down to Shenandoah National Park in Virginia.

Monday was all driving, from Portland, Maine to just outside Shenandoah at a backwoods campsite.

Today we drove through the mountains of Shenandoah and hiked to the top of Stony Man, the second tallest mountain in the park.

From there, I drove to Nathan and Michelle's house (my cousins) in North Carolina.  He showed us their honeybees and goats, including a newborn just a few days old.  I'm about to call it a night here, thanks again to them for their hospitality.
